After years of neglect, Inside Corner lives again!

Site History

We originally launched Inside Corner on June 21, 1998. The primary purpose of the site was to post pictures and updates of our soon to be born first child (Duncan, born in August of that year) for our parents and other relatives who lived a long way away from us. After this website lay mostly unused for the last 3 years, Melissa decided to resurrect it and expand the scope of the content well beyond anything it had contained in the past. After a couple of weekends spent planning, designing, and writing content, here are the results.

Unfortunately we don't still have the very first incarnation of the site for posterity sake, but here is a brief look at Inside Corner throughout the years.

1999

While the 1998 edition was limited mainly to pictures and video clips of Duncan, 1999 brought a bit of an expanded scope. Will posted some "songs" of Duncan banging around on a keyboard, and some of his old music he recorded several years earlier here and on mp3.com, which was then a site for unsigned musicians. Will also had a page for Microsoft certification, which he was writing books about at this point.

2000

The year 2000 brought the infamous Flash intro, as many sites where using and abusing Flash in ways that annoyed web surfers everywhere. The link below is the ~45 second intro to the website that ran for about a year, before the Flash intro came off and just went straight to the home page. The original tune that Will whipped together for the clip ended up becoming Prelude, the first track on his 2002 album Darkness into Light.

2002

In 2002 Inside Corner went through another major overhaul. Rebekah was born, and so the home page pictures were updated. The actual content pages, as shown on the right, were redone from scratch. Each person's page followed a similar layout, but with a different color scheme.

2004

By 2004 Dave was born, but Will's heart really wasn't in keeping the site up to date. One of the main reasons in the past was that his dad lived in Korea and didn't get to see the kids in person but maybe every couple of years. After he died in 2003, and Melissa's mother died in 2004, a lot of the interest in keeping Inside Corner up to date went away. Will was also busy with school, and was keeping his professional stuff on willwillis.us by this point. This was the last real update prior to 2007.
